Generali Open: Galan books spot in last eight

Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan advanced to the last eight of the Generali Open by edging out German Daniel Altmaier, the No 8 seed, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (8) at Kitzbühel Tennis Club in Kitzbuhel on Wednesday.
Galan, ranked No 76, will play top seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry next.
In the previous round of the Kitzbuhel tournament, the Colombian won against Italian Marco Cecchinato (6-2, 6-2).
Altmaier, ranked No 51, edged out Swiss Marc-Andrea Huesler (6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-4) in the previous round of the Kitzbuhel tournament.
