American Ben Shelton reached the second round of the Toronto Masters by defeating Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles 7-6 (1), 6-4 at the Aviva Centre on Tuesday night.
This was the first win for the young American in Toronto and the world No 41 will next face world No 1 and reigning Wimbledon and US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz.
