Italian qualifier Jasmine Paolini reached the second round of the Western & Southern Open by beating Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk 6-2, 6-1 at the Linder Tennis Family Center in Cincinnati on Monday evening.
Paolini, ranked No 43, will face the winner of the match between Spanish qualifier Cristina Bucsa and Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 13 seed, next.
