Chinese Lin Zhu advanced to the semi-finals of the Tennis in the Land by winning against Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the top seed, (6-4, 6-1) at Cleveland’s iconic Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica in Flats West Bank on Thursday evening.
Zhu, ranked No. 48, will play Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 4. seed, next.
In the previous rounds, the Chinese defeated Anna Blinkova, the No. 8 seed (6-0, 6-3) and Austrian Julia Grabher (6-4, 6-1).
Garcia, ranked No. 7, won against Linda Fruhvirtova (6-3, 6-2) and American Peyton Stearns (7-6 (4), 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
