No 10 seed Karolina Muchova moved into the quarter-finals of the US Open by winning against Chinese Xinyu Wang 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Sunday evening.
She has now reached the last eight of every Slam – only 13 in the current top 200 of the WTA rankings have done so.
Muchova, ranked No 10, will play the winner of the match between Romanian Sorana Cirstea, the No 30 seed, and Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 15 seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, Karolina Muchova defeated Australian wildcard Storm Hunter (6-4, 6-0), Pole Magdalena Frech (6-3, 6-3) and American Taylor Townsend (7-6, 6-3).
Wang, ranked No 53, won against American qualifier Katie Volynets (6-3, 6-4), Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo (5-7, 6-3, 6-4) and Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (4-6, 6-3, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Flushing Meadows tournament.
