Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the No 4 seed, reached the quarter-finals of the Galaxy Holding Group Guangzhou Open by beating Japanese qualifier Moyuka Uchijima 6-3, 6-3 on Wednesday night.
Bronzetti, ranked No 60, will play the winner of the match between Belgian Greet Minnen, the No 7 seed, and qualifier Harriet Dart next.
The Italian won against qualifier Ya Yi Yang (6-1, 6-0) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Uchijima, ranked No 173, won against French lucky loser Jessika Ponchet (7-5, 3-6, 6-3).
