Russian Karen Khachanov, the top seed, defeated Australian qualifier Alex Bolt 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Zhuhai Open at the Zhuhai Hengqin International Tennis Centre on Friday afternoon.
Khachanov, ranked No 15, will face American Mackenzie McDonald, the No 6 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Zhuhai tournament, Bolt, ranked No 323, benefited from the abandonment of Argentinian Diego Schwartzman (6-3, 4-2).
