Chinese Xiyu Wang beat Pole Magda Linette, the top seed, 6-0, 6-2 to win the Galaxy Holding Group Guangzhou Open trophy on Saturday night.
Ahead of her victory, Wang, ranked No 88, defeated Argentinian Nadia Podoroska (6-3, 6-3), Russian Diana Shnaider (6-4, 7-5), Slovak lucky loser Viktoria Hruncakova (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) and Belgian Greet Minnen, the No 7 seed (6-3, 6-4).
Linette, ranked No 27, defeated Jodie Burrage (6-7 (3), 6-0, 6-2), Australian Daria Saville (6-0, 7-6), Spaniard Rebeka Masarova, the No 5 seed (7-5, 7-6 (6)) and Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (6-2, 6-3) in the previous rounds.
