Ekaterina Alexandrova won against No 7 seed Liudmila Samsonova 6-4, 6-2 to reach the last 8 of the Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament on Wednesday night.
Alexandrova, ranked No 21, will face the winner of the match between Linda Noskova and Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova next.
Ekaterina Alexandrova edged out wildcard Anna Kalinskaya (6-7 (7), 6-1, 7-5) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Samsonova, ranked No 22, beat German Tatjana Maria (6-0, 6-2).
