Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 6 seed, won against Linda Fruhvirtova 6-4, 6-2 to reach the last 16 of the China Open on Tuesday evening.
Sakkari, ranked No 6, will face Chinese Xinyu Wang next.
In the previous round, Fruhvirtova, ranked No 98, defeated Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus (6-0, 6-3).
