Zhengzhou Open: Paolini reaches semi-finals

Italian Jasmine Paolini moved into the semi-finals of the Zhengzhou Open by winning against German qualifier Laura Siegemund 6-0, 7-5 at Zhongyuan Tennis Training Base Management Center on Friday.
Paolini, ranked No 31, will play the winner of the match between Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina and Chinese Qinwen Zheng next.
Ahead of her victory, the Italian defeated Japanese lucky loser Moyuka Uchijima (6-2, 6-3) and edged out Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 6 seed (3-6, 6-4, 7-5).
Siegemund, ranked No 113, beat Chinese Lin Zhu (6-2, 6-3) and Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 11 seed (3-6, 6-2, 6-1) in the previous rounds of the Zhengzhou tournament.
