Hong Kong Open: Fernandez through to final, takes out fifth seed Blinkova in straight sets

Canadian Leylah Fernandez won against Russian Anna Blinkova, the No 5 seed, 6-2, 7-5 to move into the final of the Hong Kong Open.
Fernandez, ranked No 60, will play the winner of the match between Italian Martina Trevisan, the No 6 seed, and Katerina Siniakova next.
It will be the fifth WTA final of Fernandez’s career, and comes in a week where she has beaten some impressive opponents.
Earlier in the tournament, the 21-year-old Canadian beat Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the top seed (2-6, 6-3 ret.), Russian Mirra Andreeva (3-6, 6-1, 6-3) and Linda Fruhvirtova (7-6 (2), 6-2).
Blinkova, ranked No 37, won against Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (6-4, 2-6, 5-1 ret.), Australian Priscilla Hon (6-1, 6-3) and Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo (7-6 (3), 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Hong Kong tournament.
