Garcia gets under way in Zhuhai with win over Keys
The Frenchwoman’s mercurial form looks to be on the up from this result

Caroline Garcia notched a win over an opponent she has not defeated for almost a decade as she began her WTA Elite Trophy campaign by beating Madison Keys 6-3, 7-6 (3).
Last year, the Frenchwoman won the WTA Finals, earning 1,375 rankings points – which dropped off last week, meaning she plummeted down the rankings from world No 10 to No 20.
Keys is now 8-9 for the year against opponents ranked in the top 20, and has lost her first two matches in Zhuhai.
