American Alycia Parks, the No 3 seed, moved into the last eight of the Midland Open by winning against Frenchwoman Carole Monnet 6-3, 6-2 at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.
Parks, ranked No 54, will face the winner of the match between American Ashlyn Krueger, the No 5 seed, and Canadian Katherine Sebov next.
In the previous round of the Midland tournament, the 22-year-old American defeated Ann Li (6-2, 6-1).
Carole Monnet benefited from the abandonment of Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich (6-4) in the previous round of the Midland tournament.
