Frenchwoman Alize Cornet, the No 8 seed, moved into the last 4 of the Andorrà Open by winning against Dane Clara Tauson, the second seed, 6-3, 6-4 at Polideportivo de Andorra in Andorre on Friday evening.
Cornet, ranked No 118, will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Marina Bassols Ribera, the No 6 seed, and Latvian wildcard Anastasija Sevastova next.
Earlier in the tournament, the 33-year-old Frenchman defeated Cagla Buyukakcay (1-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3) and Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz (6-1, 2-6, 6-1).
Tauson, ranked No 85, beat Andorran Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (6-2, 6-4) and Pole Katarzyna Kawa (6-1, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Andorrà tournament.
