Mirra Andreeva beat No 4 seed Liudmila Samsonova 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the last 16 of the Brisbane International on Wednesday night.
Andreeva, ranked No 58, will face Australian wildcard Arina Rodionova next.
In the previous round, Mirra Andreeva won against Diana Shnaider (6-2, 6-3).
