Croat Petra Martic, the No 7 seed, moved into the last eight of the ASB Classic by defeating Chinese Yue Yuan 6-2, 6-2 on Thursday.
Martic, ranked No 41, will play American Emma Navarro, the No 4 seed, next.
The Croat won against Spaniard Rebeka Masarova (3-6, 6-3, 6-3) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Yuan, ranked No 77, won against American Kayla Day (7-6 (1), 6-7 (5), 6-1).
