WTA Brisbane: 16-year-old Andreeva through to first WTA-level quarter-final

The Russian teen will meet Czech teen Linda Noskova for a place in the semi-finals

Russian teen Mirra Andreeva defeated Australian wildcard Arina Rodionova 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the quarter-finals of the WTA Brisbane International on Thursday.

Andreeva has won all her matches this week in straight sets, dropping just 10 games to reach her first WTA-level quarter-final.

The precocious 16-year-old, ranked No 58, will play 19-year-old Czech Linda Noskova for a spot in the semi-finals. The Russian has already reached the fourth round at a WTA 1000 Series event, the fourth round at Wimbledon and the third round at Roland-Garros in her young career thus far.

Ahead of her win today, Andreeva had won against Diana Shnaider (6-2, 6-3) and No 4 seed Liudmila Samsonova (6-2, 6-1).

Rodionova, ranked No 113, won against Italian Martina Trevisan (6-3, 6-2) and American Sofia Kenin, the No 14 seed (7-5, 7-6 (7)) earlier in the week.
