Hong Kong Open: Ofner moves into last 8
Sebastian Ofner edged out Jan-Lennard Struff 6-7 (4), 7-6 (5), 7-6 (2) on Thursday night and will play Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut in the next round
Austrian Sebastian Ofner advanced to the last eight of the Hong Kong Open by edging out German Jan-Lennard Struff, the No 5 seed, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (5), 7-6 (2) at the Victoria Park Tennis Stadium in Hong Kong on Thursday night.
Ofner, ranked No 43, will face Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut next.
Ahead of his victory, the Austrian defeated American Mackenzie McDonald (6-1, 6-2).
Struff, ranked No 25, edged out Croat Marin Čilić (3-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (7)) in the previous round of the Hong Kong tournament.
