German Daniel Altmaier moved into the quarter-finals of the Auckland Open by beating Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 4 seed, 7-6 (9), 7-5 at the ASB Tennis Arena on Tuesday night.
Altmaier, ranked No 57, will face the winner of the match between Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 6 seed, and Portuguese Nuno Borges next.
The German won against American Marcos Giron (7-6 (5), 6-2) ahead of his victory.
