Australian Open: Still no sets dropped as Sinner moves into semi-finals, beats Rublev

Italian Jannik Sinner, the No 4 seed, reached the last four of the Australian Open by winning against Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 5 seed, 6-4, 7-6 (5), 6-3 at Melbourne Park on Tuesday.
The second set looked to be Rublev’s for the taking, but the Italian roared back from being 5-1 down in the tiebreak to take the two-set lead.
“It was all really tight. This kind of format, I really love to play – this is what I practise for,” he told Jim Courier afterwards. “I just try to stay aggressive.”
Sinner, ranked No 4, will play Serb Novak Djokovic, the top seed, next.
In the previous rounds, the 22-year-old Italian defeated Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp (6-4, 7-5, 6-3), Dutch qualifier Jesper De Jong (6-2, 6-2, 6-2), Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 26 seed (6-0, 6-1, 6-3) and Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 15 seed (6-4, 7-5, 6-3).
Rublev, ranked No 5, won against Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild (7-5, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 7-6 (6)), American Christopher Eubanks (6-4, 6-4, 6-4), American Sebastian Korda, the No 29 seed (6-2, 7-6 (6), 6-4) and Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 10 seed (6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-0) earlier in the tournament.
