Australian Jordan Thompson beat American qualifier Nicolas Moreno De Alboran 6-2, 6-2 to move into the last 8 of the Delray Beach Open at the Delray Beach Stadium and Tennis Center on Thursday evening.
The victory marks Thompson’s 20th ATP quarter-final appearance.
29-year-old Thompson, ranked No 42, will play the winner of the match between Alex Michelsen and No 3 seed Tommy Paul next.
The Australian won against No 7 seed Daniel Evans (7-5, 6-0) ahead of his victory.
In the previous round of the Delray Beach tournament, Moreno De Alboran, ranked No 149, defeated wildcard Aleksandar Kovacevic (6-2, 7-6 (3)).
