American Hailey Baptiste, the No 7 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Puerto Vallarta Open by defeating Belarusian qualifier Iryna Shymanovich 6-0, 6-1 on Wednesday.
Baptiste, ranked No 114, will face American qualifier Robin Montgomery next.
In the previous round, the 22-year-old American won against Argentinian Martina Capurro Taborda (6-1, 6-3).
Shymanovich, ranked No 204, edged out Frenchwoman Carole Monnet (6-7 (6), 6-4, 7-5) in the previous round.
