Alert: Sinner beats Machac to reach semi-finals
Jannik Sinner defeated Tomas Machac 6-4, 6-2 and will play the winner of the match between Nicolas Jarry and Daniil Medvedev in the next round

Italian Jannik Sinner, the second seed, advanced to the semi-finals of the Miami Open by defeating Tomas Machac 6-4, 6-2 at the Hard Rock Stadium.
Sinner, ranked No 3, will next play the winner of the match between Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the No 22 seed, and Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed.
Ahead of his victory, the 22-year-old Italian beat qualifier Andrea Vavassori (6-3, 6-4), Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the No 25 seed (5-7, 7-5, 6-1) and Australian Christopher O’Connell (6-4, 6-3).
Machac, ranked No 60, made a run to the Miami Masters 1000 quarters with wins over American wildcard Darwin Blanch (6-4, 6-2), Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 5 seed (6-4, 6-4), Andy Murray (5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (5)) and Italian Matteo Arnaldi (6-3, 6-3).
