Chilean Cristian Garin won against German Dominik Koepfer, the No 7 seed, 7-6 (3), 6-3 to reach the second round of the Munich Open at the MTTC Iphitos complex on Tuesday.
Garin, ranked No 106, will face American Alex Michelsen next.
