Austrian Sinja Kraus defeated Gabriela Knutson 7-6 (7), 6-1 to reach the last 16 of the Oeiras Ladies Open on Tuesday evening.
Kraus, ranked No 225, will face the winner of the match between Slovak Rebecca Sramkova, the No 8 seed, and American lucky loser Varvara Lepchenko next.
