Argentinian qualifier Facundo Bagnis beat American qualifier Brandon Nakashima 6-3, 7-6 (5) to advance to the second round of the Madrid Masters at the Caja Magica.
Bagnis, ranked No 136, will play No 7 seed Andrey Rublev next.
