Russian Kamilla Rakhimova advanced to the last 16 of the Rabat Open when American Taylor Townsend retired on Sunday afternoon at Union Sportive des Cheminots du Maroc.
Rakhimova, ranked No 98, led 2-0 when Townsend, ranked No 59, pulled out at Union Sportive des Cheminots du Maroc on Sunday.
The 22-year-old Russian will play the winner of the match between Chinese Yue Yuan, the top seed, and Italian qualifier Camilla Rosatello next.
