Strasbourg Open: Samsonova makes last eight

Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 5 seed, won against Canadian Leylah Fernandez 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 to reach the last eight of the Strasbourg Open at the Tennis Club de Strasbourg on Tuesday evening.
Samsonova, ranked No 19, will face the winner of the match between American Emma Navarro and Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the second seed, next.
The Russian edged out Barbora Krejcikova (6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Strasbourg tournament, Fernandez, ranked No 33, defeated Russian Anastasia Potapova (4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3).
