Nottingham Open: Birrell knocks out Stefanini to book spot in last eight
Kimberly Birrell defeated Lucrezia Stefanini 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-0 and will play the winner of the match between Daria Saville and Diane Parry in the next round

Australian qualifier Kimberly Birrell advanced to the quarter-finals of the Nottingham Open by defeating Italian qualifier Lucrezia Stefanini 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-0 at Nottingham Tennis Centre.
Birrell, ranked No 148, will face the winner of the match between Australian Daria Saville and Frenchwoman Diane Parry next.
The Australian won against qualifier Emily Appleton (6-3, 7-5) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Nottingham tournament, Stefanini, ranked No 153, edged out Chinese Lin Zhu, the No 7 seed (7-6 (4), 3-6, 7-5).
