American Bernarda Pera, the No 8 seed, won against Belarusian Aliona Falei 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the last eight of the Veneto Open promoted by Regione del Veneto on Wednesday.
Pera, ranked No 103, will play the winner of the match between Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck and Russian Kamilla Rakhimova next.
In the previous round, the American defeated Latvian Darja Semenistaja (6-3, 6-4).
