Australian Rinky Hijikata, the No 16 seed, edged out Frenchman Arthur Cazaux 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4) to reach the last 16 of the Winston-Salem Open at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Monday night.
Hijikata, ranked No 65, will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the top seed, and Croat Borna Coric next.
Cazaux, ranked No 97, defeated Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp (6-1, 7-6 (3)) in the previous round of the Winston-Salem tournament.
