Abierto Tampico: Blinkova advances to semi-finals to face Marino
The Russian beat Varvara Lepchenko 6-2, 6-4 in the quarter-finals on Thursday

Russian Anna Blinkova, the No 5 seed, advanced to the semi-finals of the Abierto Tampico by winning against American qualifier Varvara Lepchenko 6-2, 6-4 on Thursday.
Blinkova, ranked No 85, is on an eight-match winning streak after winning the ITF title in Las Vegas last week. she will face Canadian Rebecca Marino, who is also on an eight-match winning streak, next.
Ahead of her win today, the Russian beat Slovak Veronika Erjavec (6-3, 6-0) and Anastasia Tikhonova (6-0, 6-7 (4), 6-1).
Lepchenko, ranked No 149, defeated German Jule Niemeier, the second seed (6-3, 6-3) and Swiss Jil Teichmann (7-6 (3), 2-6, 6-3) earlier in the week.
