Qualifier Quentin Halys edged out lucky loser Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 to reach the last eight of the Metz Open at the Arènes de Metz on Wednesday.
Halys, ranked No 84, will play the winner of the match between French qualifier Benjamin Bonzi and Norwegian Casper Ruud, the second seed, next.
Quentin Halys won against lucky loser Theo Papamalamis (6-3, 6-1) in the previous round of the Metz tournament.
In the previous round of the Metz tournament, Herbert, ranked No 127, edged out Spaniard Pedro Martinez Portero, the No 6 seed (6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (4)).
