American wildcard Karina Miller edged out Russian Polina Kudermetova, the No 9 seed, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (8) to advance to the last 8 of the Dow Tennis Classic on Thursday.

Ahead of her victory, the 22-year-old American beat lucky loser Jamie Loeb (4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-1).
Kudermetova, ranked No 114, won against American wildcard Katrina Scott (6-4, 6-2) in the previous round.
