Auckland Open: Pera reaches quarter-finals

American Bernarda Pera moved into the quarter-finals of the Auckland Open by beating Canadian Rebecca Marino 7-6 (2), 6-4 at the ASB Tennis Arena on Wednesday.
Pera, ranked No 71, will play the winner of the match between Japanese qualifier Nao Hibino and American Robin Montgomery next.
In the previous round of the Auckland tournament, the American won against Andorran qualifier Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (6-2, 7-5).
Marino, ranked No 102, won against New Zealander Lulu Sun, the No 4 seed (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) in the previous round of the Auckland tournament.
