Adelaide Open: Pegula reaches semi-finals

Top seed Jessica Pegula advanced to the semi-finals of the Adelaide Open when lucky loser Ashlyn Krueger retired at the Memorial Drive Tennis Park on Thursday.
Pegula, ranked No 7, led 6-4, 2-0 when Krueger, ranked No 54, pulled out.
Jessica Pegula will play the winner of the match between Kazakh Yulia Putintseva and Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 6 seed, next.
Pegula defeated Greek lucky loser Maria Sakkari (6-4, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Ashlyn Krueger won against Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (4-6, 6-2, 6-2) and Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 5 seed (7-6 (4), 6-7 (4), 6-2).
