Eye of the Coach #101: “The players are afraid to play against Sinner”

Jannik Sinner‘s third Grand Slam title further asserted the Italian’s place at the top of the men’s game. However, he has shared two of the last five Grand Slams with one other player – Carlos Alcaraz.

Patrick Mouratoglou believes that, although Sinner is world No 1, the Italian is not significantly above Alcaraz in terms of level.

The Frenchman says: “Jannik (Sinner) is not above everyone, I don’t think he is above Carlos (Alcaraz). When Carlos is at his best, there is a real match, and I’m sure sure who is going to win, and nobody can say who will win.”

He went on to analyse their games, and stated: “Carlos makes more unforced errors than him, he is playing with much more risk. The quality of Sinner is that he plays at a crazy high pace without missing. The asset of Carlos is that he has this incredible power in the racket, but also his ability to change rhythm.”
