Indian qualifier Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi advanced to the last eight of the L & T Mumbai Open when Kazakh Zarina Diyas retired on Thursday afternoon.
Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi led 6-3, 3-2 when Diyas, ranked No 353, pulled out on Thursday.
The Indian will play Japanese qualifier Mei Yamaguchi next.
Ahead of her victory, Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi defeated Belarusian lucky loser Iryna Shymanovich (6-4, 6-1).
The Kazakh won against Latvian Darja Semenistaja, the No 4 seed (6-3, 6-3) in the previous round.
