Marseille Open: Sonego into quarters as Van Assche pulls out

Italian Lorenzo Sonego, the No 7 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Marseille Open after French lucky loser Luca Van Assche withdrew before the match at the Palais des sports on Wednesday afternoon.
Sonego, ranked No 35, will face the winner of the match between Kazakh Alexander Bublik and Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the second seed, next.
In the previous round of the Marseille tournament, the Italian won against Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp (6-1, 3-6, 6-3).
Van Assche, ranked No 164, edged out Benjamin Bonzi (3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7)) in the first round of the Marseille tournament.
