Qatar Open: Pegula advances to quarter-finals

American Jessica Pegula, the No 6 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open by winning against Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 10 seed, 6-3, 7-5 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Wednesday afternoon.
Pegula, ranked No 5, will play the winner of the match between Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova and Belgian Elise Mertens next.
The American beat Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (6-3, 7-6 (3)) in the previous round of the Qatar tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Kasatkina, ranked No 12, won against lucky loser Polina Kudermetova (6-0, 6-0) and Armenian Elina Avanesyan (6-2, 6-3).
