Miami Open: Krueger reaches last 16
Ashlyn Krueger won against Leylah Fernandez 6-1, 7-5 on Saturday evening and will play the winner of the match between Chinese Zheng Qinwen, the No 9 seed, and American qualifier Taylor Townsend in the next round

American Ashlyn Krueger moved into the last 16 of the Miami Open by defeating Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the No 26 seed, 6-1, 7-5 at the Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday.
Krueger, ranked No 40, will play the winner of the match between Chinese Zheng Qinwen, the No 9 seed, and American qualifier Taylor Townsend next.
The 20-year-old American won against Mexican Renata Zarazua (6-3, 6-2) and edged out Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 7 seed (6-4, 2-6, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Miami tournament, Fernandez, ranked No 26, won against American Alycia Parks (7-6 (1), 6-3).
