Miami Open: Ninth seed Zheng makes quarter-finals

Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 9 seed, reached the last eight of the Miami Open by winning against American Ashlyn Krueger 6-2, 7-6 (3) at the Hard Rock Stadium on Monday.
Zheng, ranked No 9, will face the winner of the match between Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed, and American Danielle Collins, the No 14 seed, next.
The 22-year-old Chinese defeated American Lauren Davis (6-1, 7-5) and American qualifier Taylor Townsend (6-1, 7-6 (3)) in the previous rounds of the Miami tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Krueger, ranked No 40, beat Mexican Renata Zarazua (6-3, 6-2), Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 7 seed (6-4, 2-6, 6-4) and Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the No 26 seed (6-1, 7-5).
