German Tatjana Maria, the No 5 seed, advanced to the last eight of the Puerto Vallarta Open by winning against Jodie Burrage 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 on Wednesday.
Maria, ranked No 86, will play Romanian Jaqueline Cristian, the top seed, next.
The 37-year-old German defeated Italian Lucrezia Stefanini (6-2, 6-2) ahead of her win today.
In the previous round, Burrage, ranked No 178, won against Canadian Rebecca Marino (6-4, 7-6 (4)).
