Fruhvirtova defeats Joint to reach Puerto Vallarta semi-finals

Wildcard Linda Fruhvirtova battled past Australian Maya Joint, the second seed, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-4 to move into the last four of the Puerto Vallarta Open on Friday night.
Fruhvirtova, ranked No 215, will face Heather Watson next.
Fruhvirtova benefited from the withdrawal of American Hailey Baptiste, the No 8 seed, and edged out Australian Daria Saville (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) ahead of Friday’s victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Joint, ranked No 80, defeat Canadian Carol Zhao (6-3, 3-6, 6-4) and qualifier Priscilla Hon (6-4, 6-1).
