Fruhvirtova defeats Watson in Puerto Vallarta semi-finals
Linda Fruhvirtova eased past Heather Watson in straight sets on Saturday in Puerto Vallarta. She will battle either Romanian Jaqueline Cristian or Swiss Rebeka Masarova for the title.

Wildcard Linda Fruhvirtova beat Heather Watson 6-2, 6-4 in the semi-finals of the Puerto Vallarta Open on Saturday night.
Fruhvirtova, ranked No 215, will play the winner of a match between Romanian Jaqueline Cristian, the top seed, and Swiss Rebeka Masarova in Sunday’s final.
Fruhvirtova previously knocked off American Hailey Baptiste, the No 8 seed (W/O), Australian Daria Saville (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) and Australian Maya Joint, the second seed (6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-4).
Watson, ranked No 206, advanced to the last four with wins over American Whitney Osuigwe (6-0, 6-3), Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo, the No 6 seed (3-6, 6-4, 6-2) and Canadian Marina Stakusic (6-3, 6-1).
