Romanian Jaqueline Cristian, the top seed, won the Puerto Vallarta Open final by beating wildcard Linda Fruhvirtova 7-5, 6-4 on Sunday night.
In the previous rounds, Cristian, ranked No 72, defeated Harriet Dart (6-3, 6-2), Japanese Ena Shibahara (3-6, 6-4, 6-3), German Tatjana Maria, the No 5 seed (6-1, 6-1) and Swiss Rebeka Masarova (2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5)).
Fruhvirtova, ranked No 215, beat American Hailey Baptiste, the No 8 seed (W/O), Australian Daria Saville (4-6, 6-3, 6-4), Australian Maya Joint, the second seed (6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-4) and Heather Watson (6-2, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
