Top seed Jessica Pegula reached the semi-finals of the Charleston Open by winning against No 7 seed Danielle Collins 1-6, 6-3, 6-0 at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Friday.

Pegula, ranked No 4, will play the winner of the match between Chinese Zheng Qinwen, the No 3 seed, and Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 9 seed, next.

Ahead of her victory, Jessica Pegula beat Belarusian qualifier Iryna Shymanovich (6-0, 6-3) and Australian Ajla Tomljanovic (6-3, 6-2).

Collins, ranked No 22, won against Robin Montgomery (6-3, 6-1) and Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 11 seed (7-5, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
