Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the second seed, won against Frenchman Arthur Fils, the No 12 seed, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to reach the semi-finals of the Monte-Carlo Masters at Monte-Carlo Country Club on Friday.
Alcaraz, ranked No 3, will play Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina next.
Ahead of his victory, the 21-year-old Spaniard beat Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo (3-6, 6-0, 6-1) and German qualifier Daniel Altmaier (6-3, 6-1).
Fils, ranked No 15, defeated Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor (6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-2), Italian Flavio Cobolli (6-2, 6-4) and Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 7 seed (6-2, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Monte-Carlo tournament.
