Serb Miomir Kecmanovic edged out American Marcos Giron 6-2, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (9) to advance to the second round of the Munich Open at the MTTC Iphitos complex on Monday.
Kecmanovic, ranked No 48, will play the winner of the match between No 7 seed Jiri Lehecka and Italian Luciano Darderi next.
